The Credibility Spiral
Imagine you have just accepted a promotion as a leader of a team. The job is located in an organization and town new to you. Everything will be new to you. You will arrive to a new job, new boss, new team, new peers, new home, new everything. After the usual interviews, you were selected based on the credibility of your credentials, reputation, and presence.
Since your selection was announced at the new organization, your team and others have now begun gathering tidbits about your reputation…your credibility, shall we say, which is now preceding your arrival. You have also started forming a perception of the new environment and the culture you will be joining soon.
Personal credibility is a cornerstone of our character. Being in accord with our perceived credibility, through congruent actions and behaviors further refines, reinforces, and shapes our being. Our being and doing therefore reinforce one another. Until our credibility is demonstrated and witnessed by others, it remains a perception though, and maybe a rumor.
The Credibility Spiral explores this interplay, giving voice and meaning to who we are called to be as authentic leaders in today’s shape-shifting world. The six volumes listed offer authentic practices and behaviors that will consistently spiral the new leader’s credibility and effectiveness upward. This offering is particularly recommended for new leaders in transition.
