To all entrepreneurs, founders, and leaders at every level facing failure or its aftermath, allow these words, never truly spoken by Churchill but written nonetheless by a wise hand, to guide you… “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” One might well believe it to be a Churchillian rewording of the ancient parable of a king and his advisors formulating the "This too shall pass" inscription or the Roman custom of whispering "Memento mori" (remember you must die) in the ear of celebrated commanders returning from their victorious campaigns. The sentiment is clear but better worded, we think, by Kipling—"If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster, And treat those two impostors just the same"—from his poem If (far too long to reprint here, but which should be memorized the world over).
