This is a thriller and, while quite good, is too little too late.
Steve McQueen (12 Years a Slave, Shame, Hunger) has a very unique, dark, deft touch, so the film feels very atmospheric and slow burns until about 2/3rds of the way through, at which point it really kicks into gear.
But by then, well, 90 minutes have lapsed...which is perhaps 20 minutes too late.
I still recommend it, but keep your expectations moderately high, not high.
p.s. Robert Duvall is tremendous. For that matter, the entire cast is. I just think they are hemmed in for too long.
