A 2010 cult classic by director Ti West that I finally saw as part of a horror retrospective.
Honestly, it was lame.
The part that bugged me most, however, may surprise you: The house-sitter is so antsy and nosy.
A more accurate title would be: Nosy Nancy, because the film is 85 minutes of this obnoxious teenage girl opening closet doors and rifling through drawers until—you guessed it—she stumbles into a chalk pentagram on the floor in the attic.
We should have started there, then mushroomed outward.
But no, we had to start with the most inane absence of activity and plot development imaginable.
The film stars a very young Greta Gerwig and AJ Bowen and the still stiff Tom Noonan (better known as the "Tooth Fairy" from 1986's classic Manhunter).
