I love it, and unapologetically so!
It's not particularly good, but for some reason it really sticks to my ribs.
Dakota Johnson is adorable, Diana Ross's daughter (Tracee Ellis Ross) does a convincing job portraying an over-the-hill songstress coming to terms with alleged inevitabilities of irrelevance, Ice Cube is his usual loud self, and Bill Pullman, too, is the ol' hangdog we've come to know and love lo these forty years now.
And it all works together as a cute little ensemble piece!
The soundtrack's pretty great, too, and the final scenes on Catalina Island are gorgeous.
If you're looking for something easy, breezy, almost effervescent, you could do worse than The High Note.
