This resides somewhere right below Gone Girl and Harrison Ford's 1990 psychological thriller Presumed Innocent.
The Girl on the Train is getting beaten about the head and face on IMDB, but it's better than that, much better. It's not a 6.7; it's more like a 7.5...just falling short of Gone Girl's 8.1. Not anywhere near as dramatic or creepy, but surprisingly surprising!
My advice? See it, if time permits.
