Man, it has ALL the right ingredients at play in order to be an iconic western—tone, lighting, music, characters, cast, setting, mysterious stranger, inward town beneath the skies, writing, directing, hankering for vengeance...but for the perhaps the first time in recorded history, said western falls flat due to restraint.
If only George Miller woulda walked through the room as this film was being storyboarded, we coulda had a real winner on our hands!
I enjoyed it nonetheless, but it could have been remarkable.
