Not terrible, but not good.
Feels like a made-for-TV movie.
The phrases we used on the way back to the car afterward included, "not cheesy, but weak," "his lines didn't feel believable," "no backstory or character development," and "felt really rushed...seven books in ninety minutes?"
The Stephen King nerd beside us proclaimed, "What a cop-out!"
I'm eager for Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey to land their next great roles. The past few have been sorta disappointing. But Gold and Interstellar sure were good...and The Jungle Book was fun.
Enough with the kiddo stuff.
Back to Oscars!
