I'm not quite sure what to say about this one other than it's grubby, seemingly ancient (2017), at times obscure, and always riveting.
It appears to be the brainchild of Tom Hardy (or at least 1/3rd so), and he brings his usual bravado, swagger, and undeniable gravitas, but so do all the bit players surrounding him, Jonathan Pryce chief among them. Man is he slithery.
I was not a Game of Thrones watcher, so I cannot say for sure, but my impression is that Taboo wades into similarly dark waters (hence taboo), but this is the FX network, not HBO, so it's relatively benign.
Until season four of The Last Kingdom premiers, Taboo will have to be its stand-in stunt double.
