We are four episodes from the series' conclusion (it only ran for three years), and all I can say is Wow, Wow, Wow.
I'd heard about it on Tim Miller's podcast a couple weeks back, but otherwise it never crossed my radar.
Then Lauren said it was incredible, so I dove in.
Much like the podcaster described, "It'll break your heart then make you soar. It's genuine, heartfelt, beautifully executed, and apolitical."
I agree with that assessment.
The actors behind the show are fascinating, too. Do consider diving deep via Wikipedia and beyond to learn more about them.
As for content, it's language, language, language, much like Ted Lasso.
But also like Ted, don't let the language stop you, because everything surrounding it is so poetic, earnest, and mightily captivating.
If you watch it, you'll be glad you did.
It feels like Lasso meets The Office meets Parenthood meets Freaks and Geeks meets Cheers: F-bombs, awkwardly silent doldrums, familial complications, and searching for self and love in all the wrong places—but nevertheless, you are loved here and everyone knows your name.
