Heartbreaking, just so incredibly heartbreaking.
He was lost, of course, and the more he searched the less he found.
That can happen when you're hunting in all the wrong places, in grievous pain, and surrounded by those equally (or perhaps even more) lost than you. Hope is hard to come by, to say nothing of happiness. Moreover, there's no telling what he struggled with psychiatrically in the truest diagnostic sense.
I'm just crushed by his violent departure, as are all who loved him. That is evident throughout.
He was a TREMENDOUS writer with such keen insights.
I read nearly everything he wrote and wanted more.
Clearly he did, too.
