Like I always say, Cate Blanchett stinks up everything she's in.
Maybe it's just me, but I don't get her appeal. At all. Nails on a chalkboard far as I'm concerned.
So, I enjoyed Nightmare Alley until she arrived, then it was the beginning of the end.
Everyone else is great (Bradley Cooper, Toni Collette, Willem Dafoe, Richard Jenkins, Rooney Mara, Ron Perlman, Mary Steenburgen, and the inimitable David Strathairn) and, of course, Guillermo del Toro is adorable, but you know how it works: 0 x 10 = 0, so everything was humming along nicely until the Grinch came to town.
Just kidding: I love Cate. Trouble is she's so dang good that when she plays wicked, well, she is exceedingly so!
