This Aussie stop-motion animated film caught my attention because I enjoyed 2022's Pinocchio so much, 2014's The Boxtrolls, and 2021's Marcel the Shell with Shoes On—and Memoir of a Snail felt like an amalgamation of all three! And it was precisely that.
In some cases better, in some cases not quite as great, but meticulously crafted and wrapped around a really beautiful story.
A sad story, I'm afraid, but lovingly and sentimentally told.
If you love stop-motion animation and Tim Burton-like ethos, Memoir of a Snail is calling your name. Faintly, meekly, and maybe whisperingly, but yes, calling your name. Heed the call!
