Ouch.
My apologies in advance, but this one's gonna leave a mark: it's that bad.
Feels very amateurish.
Chadwick Boseman simply lacks the gravitas and acting chops to pull it off, and I can't see Josh Gad without thinking about snowmen, so the whole affair feels very lightweight.
Kate Hudson is weak, Dan Stevens huffs and puffs and harrumphs, to no avail, and James Cromwell does what we expect, in the same way Frank Hoyt Taylor's judge did in Hidden Figures.
I had zero expectations going in, and that's probably a good thing, because any would have been dashed.
I'm not saying it's terrible, mind you, but I would suggest you wait for it to stream straight to your device. That way, you can fast-forward through the excruciating treacle, which is served here heaping spoonful by heaping spoonful.
