Very disappointing.
Had a 4.1 on IMDB yesterday, then a 4.6 today.
And I understand why: For starters, it's kinda depressing, frankly. Like wow, is this where we are for the next 90 minutes? And yes, it is.
Bleak.
Then three other problems: Uninteresting characters, garbled writing, pointless action.
Really hard to care much about the characters; they're just not that interesting. At all.
The writing is all over the place; the story is not compelling and feels, honestly, like time wasted.
As for the action, it reminded me of Jurassic's Dominion. That is to say, there's a lot going on (too much going on), so after a [very short] while, it's just white noise. I got bored, sleepy, anxious to leave.
Pixar is so incredible (as is Disney, of course), but Lightyear isn't even in that league.
Which, sincerely, disappoints/saddens me. The original Lightyear trailer featuring David Bowie was wistful, emotional, promising, incredible.
But the movie itself is...not.
It's a universe away from Pixar's greats, and that's a plain ol' bummer.
