The story itself holds lots of promise, but the film feels rushed, shallow, poorly acted, and very poorly directed. Just no sense of pacing or deftness.
In the right hands, Kraven coulda been killer. As it is, Kraven is klutzy.
With a $110 million budget, its paltry $11 million box office take opening weekend is a DISASTER for Sony.
Now, in fairness, Aaron Taylor-Johnson is awesome. But dang, Rhino (Alessandro Nivola), Christopher Abbott
and Ariana DeBose are absolute embarrassments.
And don't even get me started on Russell Crowe!
Reminiscent of Marlon Brandon, Crowe has become so undisciplined and enormous as to worry me. He can barely move around a movie set without sweating, and his clothes are tents. I love the guy and don't need a return to 2000's Gladiator physique, but for crying out loud: Eat fewer pastries and stop drinking so darn much!
If he lives another 20 years without having a heart attack, it'll be a sheer miracle, nothing less.
