Amply ominous, foreboding, and threatening.
I do think it'll creep you out a smidge.
I'd give it a 6.5, and I'm relieved it didn't turn even darker. Coulda been way creepier...and it's a good thing (in my book) that it wasn't.
Remember that 1996 film Fear starring Mark Wahlberg as David McCall? That's what I'm talking about: A film that is so foreboding that it teeters on being wholly unwatchable.
John the Hole avoids that fate, but boy, it sure skitters along the razor's edge for a long while.
