In September, Alanis publicly denounced this film, angry because her brief allusions (while being interviewed) to sexual impropriety she suffered at the earliest stages of her career were “Not the story I agreed to tell. I was lulled into a false sense of security and their salacious agenda became apparent immediately upon my seeing the first cut of the film.”
That enormous betrayal aside, the documentary itself feels quite even-handed.
I honestly had no idea Jagged Little Pill was so successful! At the time, it struck me as barely mainstream, so there you have it, job one completed: education! 33,000,000 records sold.
