Well gosh darn, Michael Mann is one of my all-time favorite directors (Heat, Manhunter, Last of the Mohicans), and Penélope Cruz delivers the goods, but Adam Driver just feels lifeless throughout to engender much love, and Shailene Woodley feels out of her depth or miscast. I just can't buy her as Italian, though, in truth, no one's accent here feels all that authentic.
Rumor has it Mann and Driver plan on teaming up again for the story about mobster Sam Giancana and Chicago crime boss Tony Accardo, and that worries me to no end.
These Italian pictures gotta be passionate, otherwise they miss the boat entirely!
