A strong story beautifully told, but definitely not 'Best Picture.'
It's a bit too glossy for my taste, and the first half is incredibly hammy and heavy-handed.
But yes, earnest, and wonderful nonetheless.
I am thrilled it did well at the Academy Awards, but not because it was exemplary, mostly because its competitors were so incredibly lame.
What a weak year for cinema!
