Now THIS is a movie, and truth in advertising.
Nearly perfect.
Beautiful.
You'll laugh out loud, you'll cry, you'll hug your seatmate, you'll scramble afterward to download the soundtrack and chatter about the film for an hour beyond.
It's life-affirming and triumphant.
Just what we need right about now.
If there is a God (and yes, there is), Viggo Mortensen will make everyone's short list for an Oscar nomination. He's flawless.
p.s. If you are a parent, and the Plugged In review frightens you off, toss caution to the wind and hasten forward quickly there nonetheless. There are five brief blips, including images and rants, and your teen-plus can either learn from them as these do here, or stick his/her fingers in his/her ears for 10 seconds here and there with his/her eyes closed and be none the wiser.
Don't let the R-rating keep you from seeing this On Golden Pond about real relationships and real parenting in the 21st century.
