It's not NEARLY as bad as IMDB's 5.7.
In fact, I really enjoyed it!
But, yes, in Act III, the creators (who seem quite captivated by their ability to create special effects) unleash WALL-TO-WALL special effects for 20-30 minutes straight, and, if you've learned anything about me by now, it's that I hate when special effects define or altogether hijack and otherwise functional film. (The entire Transformers catalog being Exhibits A-G.)
For his part, Vin Diesel, reliable (or predictable?) as ever, does his standard 'grunting, nostrils-flaring man running through a wall here' thang, and sure, it's entertaining.
Eiza González is stunning, and I'm happy to see her get another role beyond Baby Driver and the Fast & Furious. She deserves more variety, diversity, and opportunities beyond Bond Girl Type or Gal Gadot Substitute.
Guy Pearce, the antagonist at hand, is suitable, though he's no Christoph Waltz. Then again, no one else is, and with No Time To Die delayed until November, we may have to wait eight full months to see Waltz do HIS thang again.
Sad face.
