Hmmm.
This could have been a breathtakingly beautiful movie.
Instead, it's rather choppy—a patchwork of bits and one-offs and tiny scenes, most of which are just okay, none of which are great.
Some moments are so goofy and cheesy that I winced.
Emma Stone, Bradley Cooper, Rachel McAdams, Alec Baldwin, Bill Murray, John Krasinski...there are some solid players here; it's too bad they experience weak play-calling.
p.s. I saw it a second time with our daughter, and it was a bit better. Knowing where it's going seems to help, alleviating prior concerns about how this great cast and meandering story will land upright.
