It's a special, meaningful, worthwhile film that is finely executed, BUT the story itself lacks the emotional payoff one anticipates after so much investment.
I expected something to happen, and for it to end in a particular way... and, to my disappointment, neither of those manifested, and I strongly believe it would have been better for everyone if they had ;-)
