Aaron Castelán Cargile
Aaron Castelán Cargile is a Subject Matter Resource for Leath Group, LLC—a dynamic curriculum development and intellectual property greenhouse that grows leaders and shapes cultures. Most frequently, he provides services in the realms of Dialogue and Diversity.
Dr. Cargile holds a PhD in Communication Studies (UC Santa Barbara) and is a professor at California State University, Long Beach. Over the past 24 years, he has dialogued about race with more than 4,500 students and continues to search for humanistic, compassionate, and pragmatic responses to the challenges of facilitating interracial/intercultural discussion. His research has appeared most recently in the Journal of Language and Social Psychology, Race and Social Problems, and the International Journal of Intercultural Relations.
He has published over 30 articles, reviews, and book chapters, most recently in the Journal of Language and Social Psychology, the International Journal of Intercultural Relations, The Educational Forum, and the Journal of Asian American Studies.
His research has been honored as among the very best eight times by the International Communication, the National Communication, and the Western States Communication Associations.
Dr. Cargile has been the keynote speaker at both Harper College’s Diversity Symposium and First 5 of Santa Barbara County’s Diversity Symposium, as well as a regularly invited speaker at Leadership Long Beach’s Institute Retreat.
He resides in Huntington Beach, CA, with his wife and two daughters.
