It is such a weird, zany story!
Atomized, it should be terrible.
But assembled—as is is here—it's somehow incredible.
I had zero foreknowledge, preconceived notion or expectation, having simply arrived at the nearest theater with this particular feature starting moments later, so in I went.
I had no idea what the film was about or what to expect, and that's probably for the best.
Needless to say, it's a compelling story powerfully told.
These people (for whom one cannot imagine caring all that much) prove magnetic.
It's a great example of an arcane tale making a big impact for reasons no grander than 'great dialogue, building tension and clever storytelling' capable of hitting a tiny target some 10,000 feet away.
